PokerStars Players to migrate to Ontarian license with new launch series

PokerStars players in the Canadian province of Ontario will have their very own platform to play on imminently, following PokerStars being granted a full license to operate in the Canadian province of Ontario, by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontarian (AGCO). The license provides for a regulated offering across PokerStars’ three verticals of poker, casino and sport.

PokerStars are committed to helping customers migrate to the new platform in the simplest way possible, as well as offering tailored experiences and added value.

To ensure a smooth transition, PokerStars players will be prompted to migrate their accounts upon logging in, which will kick off an easy to follow, step by step process, enabling their new accounts to be activated on the new PokerStars.CAON license.

The five easy steps to migrate an account to the Ontario license.

Players at PokerStars.CAON will still be able to play their favourite games 24/7 and to choose from over 5,000 games with most of the same games and brands players know and love. The community in Ontario will be able to take advantage of a bespoke schedule more suited to their time zone, whilst accessing all of the province’s favoured game types, in addition to tailored buy-ins, and specialised experiences, guaranteeing a top class PokerStars experience.

To mark the launch of the new PokerStars.CAON licence, PokerStars will be hosting a special launch series, the Ontario Platinum Series, exclusively for those in Ontario from July 10-18, offering a $1.5 million guaranteed prize pool.

There is plenty more in the pipeline for PokerStars players in Ontario, not least the introduction of an Ontario Championship of Online Poker series (ONCOOP) which will be coming soon and is set to award $2 million.

Additionally, a new weekly flagship event will land in the PokerStars Ontarian calendar, known as the New Sunday Majors, a special Sunday tournament with $100k guaranteed prize pool, which is sure to play host to some epic local action.

“In many respects Ontario is our home market, given the first ever hand of PokerStars was played here over 20 years ago, so we are thrilled about the new regulated environment within which our players can play”, said Tom Warren, MD – Marketing. “A lot has changed in that time, but our commitment to offering our players the most epic and thrilling experience in the market hasn’t – and we can’t wait to get started.”

The time has come to migrate and continue playing your favourite games with PokerStars. Available on IOS shortly.

For players outside Ontario, PokerStars will continue to provide their current offering.
